Venezuela Wrap-Up

All Partners:
Today is Tuesday, July 17th, and I think we are about recovered from our journey back from Venezuela. The trip back started at 1:30AM Sunday morning and we touched down in Tulsa at 9:00PM Sunday evening. We are glad to be back but I am already missing our new family of friends in San Felipe. The known commitments to Christ that you are directly responsible for by your intercessory prayers came to 78. Along with these we where able to minister to the needs in several families and to also reach out to some who had dropped away from the fellowship. The trip was "all good". We enjoyed good weather, good health, good food, good friends, good membership availability, and a great God.

I apologize for not having pictures available on this blog and also for the lack of information. This was a test project to see how all this can fit together to keep our prayer partners clued into what is happening out in the mission field. I am really encouraged with the possibilities for what this can do and I learned a lot about putting it together. I still need to be able to attach pictures to my reports and I will do that on future trips.

I also wanted to let you know that your comments on the blog was a real encouragement to us. We enjoyed getting those and knowing that specific prayers were being prayed for us on a daily basis and hearing from back home. Thank you for being a part of this mission trip.

Plans are already being made for next year. Maybe the next trip is the one God is calling you to be a part of. Let your heart be open to what God wants to do in your life as He uses all of us to reach out to the lost and hurting.

If you would like to make comments to me about your involvement on future mission trips or for suggestions for doing the blog, email me at wtgorrell@cox.net.

Thank you for your commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission.

Greetings to All:
It is Thursday afternoon and we have had a great week so far. The weather has been great and we have only had rain on one morning. We worked in Independencia, an area right beside San Felipe on Sunday thru Tuesday. We saw about 30 salvations and had about 49 in VBS on Monday and 30 on Tuesday. Wednesday we began work in Chevicoa and had 36 known salvations. This morning we had about 8 salvations. VBS had about 60 yesterday and we are expecting more today. Many good stories of how God is working in peoples lives and we have got to be a part of their experience. We talked to one group yesterday that had about 25 people come to hear about Jesus, 9 people were saved and more wanted to hear more about Him. God is so good and we feel so blessed in being able to be a part of what God is doing here. The young people are very active and are very skilled at leading people to the Lord. Everyone´s health has been good even though some tiredness has set in. Our interpreters have been doing an outstanding job but they do not get much rest. Everybody is also calling on them to communicate. They have been invaluable and God is using their abilities in a great way. We leave San Felipe for Valencia on Saturday morning and they have told us we need to be at the airport at 3:00AM to make the plane at 6:00. That will be a long day, but I guess we will get plenty of rest in the airports. We do look forward to coming back and giving you a full report of all that God has done.

Our trip will begin on Friday morning July 6th. We fly out of Tulsa at 7:45am to Houston, then to Miami, then to Valencia, Venezuela arriving at 10:50pm. Saturday morning we will board a bus for San Felipe (about halfway between Valencia & Barquisimeto) where we will meet with the church and finalize (?) plans for the week.
Pray for:
  • Flights and connections will all go smooth
  • Luggage and VBS supplies will all make it together
